A Message From the Headmaster
It is with great pleasure I welcome you to the GSB website. Whether a “veteran” parent or student, an alumnus or alumna reconnecting with your alma mater, or an interested visitor to our site, I hope you will find what you are looking for as you peruse the different pages and read about the school. I am certain you will begin to see why Gill is such a special place.
In May 2005, our Board of Trustees adopted a new strategic plan for the school. It is a critical document for us as we strive to continue to offer our students the very best education possible. It also helps to reaffirm the vision and goals of our community going forward.
Our mission statement sets the tone for all we do here at GSB, furthermore, it is a powerful and clear summation of what GSB is all about.
Mission Statement
Gill St. Bernard’s School is an independent, nonsectarian, college preparatory day school for students from Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. We teach students to become life-long learners and thoughtful, responsible citizens and leaders in their communities, our nation and the world. We strive to foster academic and extracurricular excellence in every student inside and outside the classroom. In all aspects of life we value integrity, compassion, and respect for others.
We feel a justifiable sense of pride in our strengths: A talented faculty, a traditional, yet broad-based, rich academic curriculum and co-curricular experience; our beautiful campus and facilities; students who are intelligent, motivated, spirited and well-rounded and active in sports, the arts, clubs and service projects; and our families who further motivate and strengthen us with their support and enthusiasm. GSB is truly an outstanding school community; one of the best in New Jersey. The new initiatives we undertake as a result of the strategic plan will only serve to make us even better.
