US teacher to attend seminar by Justice Sandra Day O'Connor
Amy Tierney, Upper School history teacher and Lead for Diversity coordinator, has been chosen to attend a week-long seminar given by Justice Sandra Day O’Connor on the American Judiciary. She was one of only 32 teachers from public and private high schools and grade schools nationwide to be accepted for this particular seminar.
Tierney plans to bring much of what she learns to her Debating Social Issues class next year, and also has plans for a course on the Supreme Court in the future. The seminar is run by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, based in New York, which promotes the study and love of American history through seminars,
lectures, traveling exhibits, and their own extensive archival collection.
